Maria Almazan, Ashoka Fellow and CEO of Latitude

María is contributing to the transformation of the apparel industry in Europe by placing sustainability across the whole value chain through an open and free network to connect all the actors involved. She is addressing the challenges of the European textile industry’s key stakeholders—manufacturers, brands and consumers—by helping them adopt new ways of working and consuming. She aims to grow her network to at least 20 factories in Spain that generate 300-500 jobs in the local textile industry in the next 5 years, then replicate the model in Italy and beyond.

Katie Nguyen, Thomson Reuters Foundation

Katie Nguyen has been a journalist with Reuters and the Thomson Reuters Foundation for more than 17 years. She spent five years as a Nairobi-based correspondent covering East Africa and reporting on a host of issues including conflict, civil unrest, hunger and social  issues for Reuters. For the past seven years, she has worked for the Thomson Reuters Foundation, most recently driving coverage of human trafficking and modern day slavery before changing roles to focus on editing stories from Foundation reporters around the world.
